LOREN SAFTA

Law Clerk

Loren Safta is a current second year JD candidate at Wayne State University Law School, harboring a passion for education law and a desire to protect the rights of both students and teachers.

Prior to attending law school, Loren graduated from Wayne State University with a degree in Public Health as well as a double minor in both Law and the History of Science, Medicine, Technology and the Environment. It was her study in the field of public health which led her to develop an interest in Title IX law and representation. During her time in undergrad, Loren was also very active in the Jewish Student Organization on campus, as well as the Wayne State History Club.

Over the years, Loren has completed work as a law clerk in both the field of landlord tenant law, as well as the field of criminal defense, where she assisted clients in the process of filing class action settlements against Dr. Robert Anderson of University of Michigan. Both these experiences allowed Loren to cultivate a true motivation to achieve justice on behalf of the individuals she assists, eager to help them navigate and achieve results through the legal system.

Through these experiences, Loren was able to grow and develop strong client advocacy skills, as well as a fiery passion for representation and pursuit of justice, particularly for victims of sexual violence and discrimination. More recently, Loren drafted a legal note discussing the issue of book bans in public school settings, hoping to create a legal guide for public school librarians to know their legal rights and options. The article is set to be published in the Wayne State Law School’s Journal of Law In Society this coming fall.

The combination of both passion for education and a desire to help has led Loren to AW Law. The firm’s mission of advocating for students’ rights to access equal and quality education perfectly aligns with Loren’s professional goals, as well as personal interests. Loren strives to approach each client with empathy and understanding, hoping to ensure that each client leaves their interaction feeling heard, understood, and advocated for.

During her off hours, you can find Loren curled up with a good fantasy novel and a cup of tea, or else spending time walking trails and parks with her family dog, Maia. Loren also loves ice skating, and can be found either in the rink or wandering the aisles of any bookstore she can find.
